The Aureus Quartet, formed in 2012 at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, are a London based quartet who perform together frequently throughout London and across the UK. They receive regular coaching from their mentor Prof. Ofer Falk, former first violin of the Allegri Quartet, and have also enjoyed lessons with Rivka Golani, Christoph Richter, Vanessa Lucas Smith (Allegri Quartet), Nic Pendelbury (Smith Quartet) and Richard Ireland.
Since the Aureus Quartet have been together, they have performed in many prestigious venues in London including Wigmore Hall, Kings Place as part of their Free Foyer Concerts in association with the London Chamber Music Society, Lauderdale House and the National Maritime Museum. The quartet was invited to perform for HRH the Duke of Edinburgh at the Cutty Sark in Greenwich to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cutty Sark Preservation Society.
One of their particularly memorable performances was a concert in the Old Royal Naval Chapel directed by world-renowned violist Rivka Golani where they gave the world premiere of String Quartet No.1, composed by Brian Black (1953-), based on the life and diary of Anne Frank.
During their studies at Trinity Laban, the Aureus Quartet were awarded the Richard Carne Mentorship Programme which gave them extensive performance opportunities as well as being mentored by the Richard Carne Quartets in Residence – the Carducci and Wihan Quartets.
The Aureus Quartet enjoy playing for functions such as weddings and receptions, as well as working with children including performances for Trinity Laban’s Schools’ Concerts where pupils are given the opportunity to hear KS1-5 curriculum set works performed live.
